It’s a New Year…and a Chance to Start Over

It’s December the 14th and I’m sitting in Wendy’s having lunch and relaxing. At this time of the year, it’s somewhat like being in the eye of the storm.

Coming over the sound system is Frank Sinatra and the song he’s singing is Hark the Herald Angels Sing. As I said, I’m comfortable enough, perusing my USA Today when I hear the words in the song, ‘God and sinner reconciled.’

Wow! It’s beautiful, it’s relaxing, and yet in this day and age of always being alerted to being politically correct, I couldn’t help but wander how much longer this type of Christmas music will be permitted in a public environment.

Who knows? For all anyone knows, perhaps complaints were registered and even legal proceedings planned or underway. In these days of over sensitivity, ever vigilance, and some legal guardian ready to make a case, one never knows when toes are being stepped on or feelings hurt.

Oops. Now Johnny Mathis is singing, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Is there anyone besides me that is just a little weary of being politically correct? Can’t we just lighten up?

As you read this, the holidays are behind us with the canvas of a new year on which to make our own designs and markings.

The way I see it, we live in the best country in the world and are truly a blessed nation and people.

Maybe we should lighten up a little, decide to smile more, and resolve not to sweat the our readers and advertisers, a Healthy, small stuff.

Come to think of it, this is the time of the year for resolutions.

Finally, let me take this time to wish all of our readers and advertisers, a Healthy, Happy, and Prosperous New Year!

About the Cover

On this month’s cover are two of the most exciting hockey players to come along in some time. They’re young, and both play for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The first is Sidney Crosby, the 19-yearold second year player that is leading the NHL scoring race at this time. Wayne Gretsky was the only other teenager to hold the scoring lead and he did it briefly in 1980.

The other player featured is Evgeni Malkin, just 20 years of age, and already a presence on the ice.
