PUBLISHER'S PAGE - Monroeville…Next to Everything

Recently I visited a newly opened restaurant in Station Square. I was pitching the advertising director, and while there, I heard a soundtrack that included Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin, Mel Torme, and Ella Fitzgerald, to name a few.

But alas and alack, the buyer has not yet committed to advertise in Point, so good luck in trying to find this fine restaurant.

  • The auto show was here last month in Pittsburgh. Now we may complain about gasoline being $2.19 a gallon, but in Europe it’s $5.00 a gallon. Think of it, $100.00 to fill up a 20-gallon tank. Now in Iraq I hear gasoline is 5¢ a gallon. Maybe you’d like to move there. Just goes to show, things may not be as bad as they seem.
  • Best I’ve heard in a while comes from Dick Cavett. He speaks of all the restaurants in New York City, in the Village—Italian- Greek, Chinese-German, all the different combinations. He thought, Chinese-German, what would that be like? He tried the Chinese-German and found it to be really good. The only problem was an hour later, he was hungry for power.
  • The month is March which brings the beginning of Spring. Easter comes early this year on March 27th. Before that though, comes St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th. Everybody’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.

About the Cover

Monroeville has it all!

Since opening its doors in September 1987, the Convention Visitors Bureau of Greater Monroeville’s mission has been to increase the number of tourists and conventioneers coming to Monroeville.

With a staff headed by Sandy Rice, they have succeeded rather nicely.

Pittsburgh is surrounded by many dynamic areas, not the least of which is Monroeville. With its own convention center—the Pittsburgh Expo Mart at Monroeville—numerous restaurants as well as fast-food eateries, hotels, shopping, own convention bureau, and proximity to the attractions and cultural amenities of Pittsburgh, Monroeville could be just right for your next meeting, convention, show, or affair.

Located at Pennsylvania Turnpike Exit 6, and just 13 mile east of downtown Pittsburgh, Monroeville is well situated for easy access to all of Western Pennsylvania.
