Jim O’Brien loves a good story. And in no particular order he loves sports, the city of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. To prove a point, one only has to look at the highly successful series of books cranked out by O’Brien, some 17 in 17 years, including 19 about Pittsburgh and 22 altogether. Talk about a cottage industry. O’Brien’s latest, in his Pittsburgh Proud Series is Steeler Stuff, a collection of stories about the current players who won Super Bowl XL. At 7-5, they were all but counted out before going on an incredible run that culminated with a championship. This book is not a play-by-play or game-by-game affair, but rather a collection of stories that gives insights into them as people. Not only are the current Steelers covered, but nostalgia is entered into with stories and sections on former Steelers and other Pittsburghers from other days and times. Steeler Stuff is 446 pages and filled with pictures. The hard cover edition is $29.95 and is available at local bookstores or by contacting the author direct at 412-221-3580 or by email at jpobrien@earthlink.net. MAY 2007 Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania

Clemente, Willie Stargell, or Mario
Lemieux, the list of athletes achieving excellence
right here is impressive indeed. HOME GAMES PLAYED AT MELLON ARENA
