Always Something To Do Pittsburgh Point magazine has been telling visitors (no pun intended) where to go, better check that, showing visitors where to go for just over a quarter of a century now. Visitors find the compact, digest size of Point, an easy companion. Whether in the hotel or as a take along, the magazine gives direction to area visitors. Last July, Pittsburgh was host to Major League baseball’s All-Star Game. And just last month the U.S. Open was held in Oakmont.
Early this month the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta concludes with a July 4th celebration. Two brand new exhibits are now at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh that run into September. They are How People Make Things, inspired by Mister Rogers, and Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog. Take the kids, they’ll love it! Meanwhile, there’s been a sighting of some pretty unusual looking birds at the National Aviary. The Lorikeets have landed. A new walk-through exhibit just outside Rainbow Lorikeets are native to the coastal areas of Australia where they feed on nectar and pollen from the blossoms of native plants, fruit, and insects. Come expecting a close-up encounter of the feathered kind. Both the National Aviary and the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum are located just steps from each other on the North Shore. A. Robert Scott
