Newest Dining Spot in Oakland

All India is the latest venture by entrepreneur/businessman Didar Singh. All India is just as it sounds, a menu with more than 200 items. Dishes from the north and the south of India. The north features more meat and curries, chutneys, pickles and fried foods. Southern Indian dishes offer more vegetarian items and often include curry leaves and coconut milk. Dosas are from the south, where more rice dishes are featured.

All India has a lunch buffet featuring a variety of dishes such as the roasted baby eggplant in baingan bharta or the spinach, cheese and herbs in palak paneer. It also includes Bombay street food pav bhaji, a spicy, buttery vegetable mash served with slabs of homemade bread.

All India features an extensive menu of dosa rice crepes served over three plates; Indian sandwiches called Kathi rolls; thali platters of daal, vada, rice and vegetables; and tandoori items cooked in the restaurant’s clay ovens.

The restaurant’s interior is wide open with lots of space. The pleasing combination of spice-colored walls, colorful silk flowers and festoon doorways give the ambience a dramatic feel. The elegant touches extend to the table settings, where brass water goblets are good, heavy flatware suggest a commitment to quality, down to the last detail.

All India has been the finest Indian restaurant in the region and its service and graciousness is second to none since it opened its doors in March of this year.
