Unique Neighborhoods
Anyone from Pittsburgh or who’s ever lived in the area knows that the city is composed of neighborhoods… some ninety of them. But even those who are from the area probably have never been to all of them. This month’s issue of Point is going to direct your attention to two of them.
First, perhaps one of the best known of these neighborhoods is South Side. Originally known as Birmingham, South Side had at its core the steel mills and the church.
Coursing through the heart of the district is East Carson Street, a throw-back in its look to the 50s. With its mix of shops and galleries, fine restaurants to fast-food, bars & taverns, throw in some hardware stores, bakeries, novelty boutiques, tattoo parlors, well, you get the idea.
